Usage

When the OP-1 CS is in Ableton Live mode, almost every key you press generates a MIDI event. The image below tells which MIDI CC is generated for each key/knob. While the OP-1 CS is in this mode, you cannot access any of it's common synthetizer features. It will only work as a MIDI controller.

Operation Modes

The OP-1 Control Surface works in four distinct modes. To change operation mode use the following keys:

  • Perform (7) - allows you to play OP-1 CS keyboard and send MIDI notes events
  • Clip (8) - allows you to launch clips and scene rows on Ableton Live
  • Transport (9) - allows you to control Ableton Live song transport
  • Mixer (10) - allows you control track functions such as volume, pan, arm, solo, etc

Global assignments

Mode dependent assignments

Perform mode Use arrow keys to shift octave and notes keys to play as usual

Clip mode Use notes key to trigger individual clips within the red box and shift+note to stop the clip.

Use the last note at the right to trigger and entire scene and preceed with shift to stop all clips.

Use arrow keys to offset the red box to the left/right.

Transport mode Use arrows keys to scrub song position by one beat.

Use shift + arrow keys to offset loop position.

Use note key to define loop on the current position with a determined length (1, 2, 4, 8, ..., 4096)

Use shift + note key to define loop without changing loop start

Mixer mode Use arrow keys to navigate on mixer tracks

Use note keys to directly select a mixer track
